The result ended up with Patterson only catching a total of 35 passes and one touchdown in his next two seasons with the Vikings. In four seasons, Patterson has tallied 132 catches for 1,316 yards and seven touchdowns on offense, while adding 333 rushing yards and over 4,000 kick off return yards with five touchdowns.

When free agency began, it was assumed that WR Cordarrelle Patterson was going to leave.

Where he will be counted on is for kickoff returns; the Raiders haven't had a return for a touchdown since Jacoby Ford did it in 2011. The wide receiver will reportedly be taking his flashiness to the bay area and join the Oakland Raiders according to the Star Tribune's Matt Vensel. As a third or fourth receiver on his new team behind Pro Bowler Amari Cooper and the veteran Michael Crabtree, Patterson can find himself open in the slot or on shorter passing routes. He also ran one back for a touchdown - the fifth return for a touchdown of his career.

Patterson ranks second in NFL history with a kickoff-return average of 30.4 yards, behind only hall of famer Gale Sayers' 30.6, and is the only player in league history to lead in that category in three different years. Both were targeted more than 130 times by Derek Carr a year ago with the next highest wide receiver, Seth Roberts, seeing 77 passes. If the coach gives me the OK, I want to bring it out.

"I would love to stay here if everything works out the way it should - this is the team that drafted me", Patterson had said.

Especially with Raiders fans, who rode him mercilessly the day he scored against them at the Oakland Coliseum, now welcoming him with open arms. Just go out and enjoy it, man, keep thanking God. "Raider Nation, baby", Patterson said with amazement. I'm just excited to team up with all those guys over there.
