Russell Westbrook's record-breaking season continued Thursday night with a win over San Antonio.

The Thunder needed to snap their four-game losing streak and that was enough incentive for them.

Not even a career-high 58 points from Russell Westbrook was enough for the Thunder to avoid a 126-121 home loss to the Blazers on Tuesday. He had 23 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists to match Wilt Chamberlain's 1967-68 campaign for the second-most in a season.

Both players have been outstanding for their respective teams, but Leonard might be able to gain the most ground on the competition if his Spurs are able to overtake the Golden State Warriors for the best record in the National Basketball Association by the end of the regular season. Oscar Robertson holds the record at 41.

Pau Gasol scored 18 points while LaMarcus Aldridge posted 17 points and six rebounds as the Spurs (50-14) saw their nine-game win streak come to an end.

F Danny Green scored 14 points. After an overtime loss to the Jazz and hanging around with the Nuggets, Sacramento decided to make things exciting for a half before being thoroughly dismantled in the third and fourth quarters. In a fairly low-scoring game, Westbrook made the bulk of the Thunder's plays and led five players in double figures.

In what was the 170th matchup between these teams, Sacramento rolled out to a 22-point lead in the first quarter.

The Spurs played a game against the Kings yesterday that came down to the wire and used a lot of energy from their roll players with Kawhi and Aldridge being out. This season with him on the court, the Thunder score 107.1 points per 100 possessions, a mark that would place them 11th overall.

IMPORTANT NOTE:Golden State's Kevin Durant and Toronto's Kyle Lowry have been removed from the list due to long-term injury issues that could keep them out of action for the remainder of the regular season. The Spurs were coming off the second night of a back-to-back. But with flaws on the roster, and no go-to secondary option on off nights, when the team isn't playing well the responsibility falls directly to Westbrook. New addition Doug McDermott added 11 points on five-of-10 shooting.

Before that, Westbrook was walking to the scorer's table midway through the quarter with the Thunder ahead 12. The Thunder are off tomorrow before hosting division rival Utah Jazz on Saturday.
