Does Daylight Saving Time Affect Your Health?

Time to end Daylight Saving Time? When Does Daylight Saving Time Start?
Sammy Stanley | 10 March, 2017, 00:30

Everyone will lose an hour of sleep from Saturday night into Sunday morning because of Daylight Saving Time.

In the United States, DST was originally adopted near the end of World War I in an effort to conserve fuel domestically and repurpose these resources for the war effort. He put together a report that outlined 10 reasons why Daylight Saving Time was a good idea. "It may mean that people who are already vulnerable to heart disease may be at greater risk right after sudden time changes", Dr. Amneet Sandhu, said.

According to the Pediatric Sleep Council, for which Mindell serves as chair of the Board of Directors, a child's internal clock is primarily set by light and dark.

Germany lost anyway, but daylight saving time remains with us.

Currently, Arizona, Hawaii, the Eastern Time zone within the state of Indiana, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and American Samoa do not observe Daylight Saving Time. "Daylight saving time" is correct; "daylight savings time" is incorrect. Also, it prevents traffic incidents because people are driving around more during the light hours.

This year, Daylight Saving Time in the United States begins on March 12.

That means a shift in the time of both sunrise and sunset. That ended after the war and for many years, cities and counties were allowed to make their own decisions on Daylight Saving Time.

If the late sunlight isn't your thing, the clocks turn back at 2 a.m. on November 5.

Schrager suggests that Americans on Eastern Standard Time set their clocks back one hour as normal, Americans on Central and Rocky Mountain time do nothing and Americans on Pacific time set their clocks forward one hour.

The bill moved the start date to the second Sunday in March as opposed to the first Sunday of April.
