Ali Price, who came on against France, turned in a sparky performance, markedly increasing the tempo of Scotland's play and bringing feistiness in the loose.

Ross Ford insists Scotland can cope without their skipper Greig Laidlaw after he was ruled out for the rest of the Six Nations.

But 105-cap hooker Ford - himself a former Scotland captain - believes there are plenty of leadership candidates who could fill in for Laidlaw.

Laidlaw left the Stade de France on crutches and was fully assessed on returning home once the swelling had gone down.

Laidlaw will consequently miss Scotland's remaining fixtures against Wales, England and Italy.

"A scan undertaken at his club, Gloucester, confirmed the clinical suspicion that the 58-times capped scrum-half sustained ligament damage midway through the first-half of Saturday's test match against France".

While Finn Russell took over the kick duties, the loss of the 31-year-old is a significant blow to head coach Vern Cotter.

Scotland won on the opening day of a Six Nations campaign for the first time in 11 years when they beat Ireland earlier this month. The Scot will be one of the fore runners for the scrum-half places on the plane to New Zealand this summer, where the British and Irish Lions will take on the mighty All Blacks in their back yard.

This week's edition of The Oval Office, we speak with Niall Ronan, David Arnott and talk all things Six Nations.
