The International Paralympic Committee anticipates the Rio Games will be a sell out after passing 1.5million ticket sales. The team had nine last minute additions as a result of replacement slots being given to the country as a result of the suspension of Russian Federation from the Games.

Organisers said the Olympics and hopes for Brazilian gold medals had boosted sales.

The court said it would rule later on the team's ban. "There are very few spots [in the Paralympic Games] for special athletes".

The 2016 Summer Paralympics, a major worldwide multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities is going to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 7 September to 18 September. Craven, however, also noted that there were still 10 countries that might not be able to afford the costs of travelling to Rio for the Paralympics, going on to say that "We want full participation here". The decision came after a report was delivered earlier in the summer by the Independent Commission of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) alleging a state-run doping programme for Russian athletes, reports Tass. "Tragically, however, the Russian authorities have denied their athletes this chance through their actions".

The Paralympic chiefs imposed a blanket ban on Russian competitors following the release of a report commissioned by the WADA that detailed drug-cheating directed by Moscow government officials and affecting dozens of sports.

Russian Federation will hold a two-day competition next week for its Paralympic squad banned from Rio, a top sports official said on Wednesday after Switzerland's federal court rejected their final appeal.

The athletes, meanwhile, have begun arriving in Rio de Janeiro, a city where various infrastructure projects have been carried out in recent years to facilitate the mobility of the Paralympic Games' participants.

He gave this assurance yesterday in Abuja during a send forth organised by the ministry for 29 athletes and coaches who travelled to Brazil for the Paralympic Games.

"Participants in Paralympic events are grouped into categories according to the degree of their disability so that competitions are fair, but concerns across all Paralympic sports about incorrect categorisation have been increasing globally as the sport has developed", it explains.
