A New Team Arrow Assembles in the Arrow Season 5 First Look

Garry Little | 25 July, 2016, 07:26

Arrow executive producer Wendy Mericle broke the news during the series' San Diego Comic-Con panel revealing that, "Katie Cassidy will not be disappearing from this universe".

From the looks of it, season 5 has a similar feel to seasons 1 and 2, tonally.

After a divisive fourth season, fans are hoping the show will return to its roots for season 5 and judging by this first-look trailer it appears it may well do.

The 100th episode will happen eight episodes into season 5, and Guggenheim has teased that it is "chapter two of our four-part crossover" with episode 9 being the midseason finale, so everything has timed "perfectly" for the show.

Hot damn. There are a whole lot of emotions happening in this trailer, especially with Laurel on her death bed, but there is definitely a sense of fun and comedy at play as well. As you probably remember, Laurel died in season 4. It was also announced at SDCC that actress Katie Cassidy has signed a deal similar to John Barrowman's to be a series regular in Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow.

While Oliver will keep busy training the newbies, Felicity will be working through her guilt. "We have a phonetics coach and a translator on set when I have to do Russian and it seems to be working".

"I don't think this is the past year of the show but it's definitely the end of a chapter", he continued.

In other news, Oliver will continue to act as Star City's biggest hero. As Amell puts it, he's "a vigilante who's moonlighting as a mayor", not the other way around. "I came here to work with the guy who killed Damien Darhk", says Ramirez, following which Oliver replies, "First I am going to teach you a few things", and he knocks down all the three candidates, with his swift moves. Despite being broken-up, Felicity made it clear to Oliver that he is not the lone member of Team Arrow.

As the show moves on to Season 5, Oliver Queen will be forced to save his city from a new threat, a threat that his own hands helped created, as both newly appointed Mayor and the Green Arrow.
