Howard Terry | 24 July, 2016, 06:42

Here is a timeline of the shooting at a shopping mall in Munich where a gunman, identified as an 18-year-old German-Iranian, killed nine people, a lot of them teenagers, on Friday evening (all times local).

A disturbing video has emerged that appears to show the Munich gunman shooting at people outside a McDonalds in the city as Germany reels from the news of a shooting spree that started at a local shopping center.

A gunman opened fire at a Munich McDonald's and then at a shopping mall, killing nine people Friday evening.

Investigators say they are still looking for a motive for the attack but Munich prosecutor Thomas Steinkraus-Koch noted the gunman apparently was undergoing psychiatric treatment for problems including depression.

Germany has been on high alert after a teenage asylum seeker attacked people with an axe on a train on Monday, injuring five.

During a press conference, Munich police chief Hubertus Andrae said the game was "one part of the comprehensive investigation we are conducting".

In all, nine victims were killed in Munich and authorities say the shooter died of an apparent gunshot wound.

Alleged Facebook post by German-Iranian gunman behind Munich shooting, who used a fake alias to call on people to come to the mall for a giveaway of sorts. State premier Horst Seehofer said he was "deeply shocked" at the mass shootings, describing the killings as a "brutal and inhuman act" that filled everyone "with sadness and horror".

The woman shortly after reported that her account had been hacked.

State police have said that he was carrying 300 rounds of ammunition and that his gun was a Glock.

Police said that they have so far been unable to interview the gunman's parents due to their current distressed state.

Whether or not he was bullied, following a video which appeared to show the gunman standing on a roof saying he had been. The shooter at one point yells, "I'm German", to which the filmer responds, "You are a jerk", and demands to know what is going on.

"Our thoughts also go out to the numerous injured people - may they recover quickly and completely - they will receive all the support they need".

At first, authorities believed there were three attackers involved and warned residents to avoid public places, sending terrified shoppers running to strangers' homes nearby. "I am German. You will get it, '" Bayri said.

Munich's mayor, Dieter Reiter has declared a day of mourning for the victims of "this bad act".

"These are hard hours for Munich", he said, adding that the city's citizens had shown great solidarity toward each other.

There are no indications the 18-year-old gunman who killed himself had outside help with the attack.
